Scholarships and College Prep Information

  • Claiborne County School District is proud to provide scholarship and college preparatory information to our students and parents. The scholarships are grouped into categories that may be helpful in your search. These lists are not conclusive but provide a starting point for your scholarship search.

    Mississippi Aid 

    The Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid (MOSFA) offers scholarships and grants based on merit and financial need to full-time (15 credit hours per semester) students attending eligible Mississippi colleges and universities. The application is available at or you can link to the Mississippi application after completing the FAFSA and most of your info will be prefilled. 

    Applications open October 1 and should be completed by March 31 (the HELP grant deadline). For official information, eligibility requirements, and deadlines, please refer to the Mississippi Aid Application website:

    Port Gibson High School Class of 1992
    Award: $500
    Deadline: March 1, 2021
    Recipients: Seniors
    Details: The Class of 1992 is offering a scholarship in the amount of $500 to support a graduating senior from Port Gibson High School.

     The Citizens Bank
    Award: $1000

    Recipients: For juniors and seniors
    Details: Students bring report cards at the end of the first week of June to any of the bank's locations:  For every “A,” students are entered into a drawing to win a $1,000 scholarship.

    Christian Leaders of the Future 
    Award: $1000 (2)

    Recipients: Mississippi high school senior
    Details: Students must complete an application and submit a letter of recommendation.

    Key Thinkers Scholarship
    Award: $2500
    Deadline: Multiple (one per academic term)
    Recipients: High School or College Student
    Details: Students must be a US citizen or permanent resident, 18 years or older, enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college, university, or trade school in the US; have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

    Award: full tuition, fees, and book allowance

    Details: This scholarship is awarded based on financial need, academic achievement and community service.  Awards are in the amount of $1,000 and are not renewable.

    Recipients: Seniors
    Details: Students who have participated in organized competitive athletics and have sustained a life changing accident or illness (e.g. paralysis, blindness, cancer, amputation, head injuries).

    Young Farmers Scholarship Foundation
    Award: $3000
    Deadline: June 1
    Recipients: 2 reserved for incoming freshmen
    Details: Must attend a Mississippi college or university; show need for financial assistance, academic ability, and leadership qualities; Must be pursuing an agriculture related major

    United States Senate Youth Program
    Award: $10,000
    Deadline: October 11, 2019
    Recipients: High school junior or senior

    National Rice Month Scholarship

    Recipients: High school seniors from rice growing state (MS included)
