Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides financial assistance through state education agencies (SEAs) to local education agencies (LEAs) and public schools with the highest percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.
Claiborne County School District uses Title I funds at the elementary, middle, and high school. Each school operates a Title I schoolwide program. Schools with more than forty percent of students receiving free and reduced-price lunches are eligible to use Title I funds for schoolwide programs that serve and meet the educational needs of all students in the school. Each school develops a continuous improvement plan based on needs identified within the school. The Title I school plans include evidence-based strategies for improving student achievement and supporting parental and family engagement.
